The role

Match the hire to your mechanical tenders.

Mechanical estimating experience varies. Define whether the role covers air-conditioning, ventilation, ductwork, mechanical pipework or a specific package, and how your team reviews the work.

01

Mechanical quantity take-offs

Measure ductwork, fittings, insulation, grilles, equipment and other items within the agreed scope. Keep quantities tied to the correct drawing revision.

02

Equipment and supplier comparisons

Compile equipment schedules and quote requests. Compare supplier and subcontractor inclusions, lead times and exclusions for your team to review.

03

Estimate and tender preparation

Apply your labour allowances, rates and approved equipment pricing. Prepare cost schedules, tender documents and a record of assumptions and exclusions.

04

Addenda, variations and handover

Track changes to layouts, schedules and specifications. Revise the estimate, identify scope differences and prepare an organised handover for awarded work.

Your estimator works as part of your team, using your systems and processes. Lynk handles their employment and local support.

Choosing your HVAC estimator

Assess the work before you hire.

We screen against your brief. You interview, review relevant experience and choose the person. Use a practical task to check the skills that matter to your team.

  1. Define the role

Send your duties, systems and essential experience. A few clear bullet points are enough to start.

  2. Review and interview

Discuss shortlisted candidates’ experience, their own contribution to past work and examples they are authorised to share.

  3. Assess and confirm

Use a short exercise with information you may share. Your relevant manager assesses the work. Confirm the candidate, fee, hours and start date before proceeding.

  4. Set up the handover

Provide system access, templates, a reporting line and review checkpoints. Lynk handles employment and the Manila workplace setup.

What to include in your brief

Mechanical systems and packages; building types; typical tender workload; software; essential experience; technical reviewer; working hours and preferred start date.

Common questions

Before you hire.

Is an HVAC estimator the same as a mechanical estimator?

HVAC estimating focuses on heating, ventilation and air-conditioning work. A mechanical estimating brief may also cover other pipework, plant or specialist packages. Name the systems in your brief so the search matches your actual workload.

Can an offshore HVAC estimator choose equipment or complete engineering design?

Estimating support should follow the design and specifications your team approves. Engineering design, calculations and final equipment selection are separate responsibilities. If needed, define those separately and establish appropriate technical review.

Can we require Australian project experience?

Yes. Tell us whether Australian experience is essential and which systems, project types and tender processes matter. We confirm the shortlisted candidate’s background and fee against those requirements.

Who provides labour rates and supplier information?

Your business supplies current labour allowances, rates, preferred suppliers and estimating templates. The employee prepares the estimate using those inputs and flags gaps. Your team approves the commercial submission.

Can the person also estimate plumbing or electrical work?

Only where their experience, capacity and your assessment support the additional scope. Do not assume HVAC experience covers every building service. Separate the core role from optional duties when preparing your brief.

How much does an offshore HVAC estimator cost?

Costs depend on mechanical estimating experience, software and the scope of the role. Use the general estimator guide for early planning, then request a specialist quote. The final fee is confirmed before you proceed.

READY TO ADD CAPACITY?

Tell us about your next HVAC estimator.

Send a few details about the work, software and experience you need. We’ll get in touch to discuss the role, likely costs and recruitment process before you decide to proceed. You don’t need a finished job description.
